:: IMMOBILIARI (REAL ESTATE AGENCIES)
There are many immobiliari (real estate agencies) in Bologna.
The best way to obtain information about apartment rentals is by scouring the various newspapers and magazines listing real estate ads. These publications come out weekly and are available for free at edicole (newsstands) and in front of real estate agencies throughout the city.
The main real estate publications are Casa Dove and Gazzetta Immobiliare. Somewhere towards the back of each of these publications you will find a comprehensive list of properties organized by area rather than by agency. Everything already mentioned in an agency ad is included in this section, so you won't overlook any vital information.

Agency fees
If you find an apartment through an agency, you will be expected to pay a fee for the service, usually equivalent to one month's rent. Always ask in advance. In turn, the agency will assist you with some of the initial negotiations with your landlord.
Going to the agency directly
You can also visit the agencies in person and register your requirements with them. Once you have decided on the neighborhood, go to agencies in that area and target them directly. Registering with the larger agencies will give you the best chance of finding something suitable, as they will obviously have a bigger selection of properties. They may even speak English.
* Let's have a look to Flashgiovani Italian version in the section casa (home). You will find many important suggestions:

:: RENTING A ROOM IN APARTMENT WITH OTHERS
As in other cities around the world, students and young working professionals often share apartments or rooms in Bologna, and it's not unusual to move in with people you've never met before.
Most of these arrangements are organized by way of annunci (announcements), which you can find tacked up on walls and bulletin boards all over the university district, especially around Piazza Verdi. Or you can leave a message on Bacheche of Flashgiovani.it.

:: UNIVERSITY HOUSING
Places in studentati (student halls) are awarded to students upon application. The Bussola office helps students locate housing.
The service is free and they arrange for you to view potential apartments from their office.

:: ANOTHER OPTION: AU PAIR ARRANGMENTS
Many families from Bologna seek an English-speaking ragazza alle pari (au pair). Arrangements differ, but you would be expected to spend time with the children, speaking English and helping with homework, in exchange for board and a room of your own. Depending upon the number of hours you work, there could be a small wage as well. For more information you can look at these address:
